This is gonna be interesting

Status: Scalded

As a kind of preparation for the apartment next year (because the entire world really does revolve around me, right?), they University of London has seen fit to give us single rooms instead of double. So, I do not have a roommate. It felt SO weird last night brushing my teeth, walking down the hall, opening the door to the room and not seeing Emily sitting at her computer. All of the bedtime rituals felt so normal, so it was strange to open the door and not see someone else sitting there. Nevertheless, I have decided to carry on the normal Emily & Chrissy Dorm Ritual of always keeping the door open. I make more friends that way ^_^

So, a few things about the "hall of residence" (as they call it):
1. The beds are very comfy. I had an unspoken argument with my duvet last night as it seemed to want to bunch up in the oddest places at the oddest times. We are okay now. We've come to an agreement and it no longer bunches up.

2. The showers are weird as shit, y'all. You have to press a button and the water lasts for about 30 seconds before you have to press the button again. There are also numbers on a dial. I thought they would dictate how long the water lasted for. Wrong. It was water temperature. *shudder* So, turning it up to 8 was a very bad idea. Even 1 was too hot and I praised the moments when the water stopped. Perhaps they do this, button and scalding water, to conserve water. It's working.

3. They have a piano (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The tone is...well, the best way I can describe it is that the piano sounds like something out of the BBC's version of Pride & Prejudice. But I am so pleased that they at least have a piano for me to play.

4. The view from our floor (the 12th) is absolutely beautiful. I can see little rooftop garden patios and there's this really grand cathedral looking thing off in the distance. It has a huge clock tower attached. I must research. Camden Town is a terribly beautiful place. Not as many pubs as the Kensington area, but somehow, I think I'll manage.

5. We are seriously a 5 minute walk away from King Cross Station. This means many things: We are a 5 minute walk away from where Alan Rickman lives. *swoon* We are a 5 minute walk away from Platform 9 & 3/4 (I can has Draco Malfoy? kthx). We are a 5 minute walk away from the wonderful thing known as train travel. wOOt

Some people would like to head over to Ireland. I would not be displeased with that. Also, Heather lives in Aberdeen, Scotland. Unfortunately, that's on the other side of the continent, so train travel would not be worth it as I will only have 4 days to get there and back. I'll have to look into some cheap flights if I wanna go visit her. I would LOVE to see Edinburgh and Heather said that her house is a hop, skip and a jump away from the castle that influenced Dracula's castle. I really must go.

Okay. That should be all for now.

Pip pip, cherrio and all that rot!

  1. I know. I can't handle having a roommate who is not you. Too strange. It will make us even more appreciative of next year. Ah! I can't believe that your program is starting. I hope that your script turned out the way you hoped. I'll e-mail soon!
